He first arrived in Beijing in 1986, and over the nearly four decades since then, he has lived, worked and documented life in the capital, while travelling extensively across China’s rural regions and towns. In the book, he sets out to explain how China has achieved its current development and hopes the book will encourage more people to visit China and see its changes with their own eyes.
