：Youth as Fuel: sabukaru meets V8

sabukaru met V8 in Seoul, the new unit formed by VERNON [@ vernonline] and THE 8 [@ xuminghao_o], two artists best known as members of SEVENTEEN [@ saythename_17]. While both have spent years building distinct creative identities within one of K-pop's biggest groups, V8 showcases a different kind of statement altogether. At a moment when much of the industry continues to favor familiar formulas, V8 arrives as something harder to categorize, resulting in a debut that is both open-ended and personal, yet still carries the directness that makes great pop music resonate.

While V8 marks the first official unit project from VERNON and THE 8, both artists have spent years developing individual creative practices outside of SEVENTEEN. THE 8 has explored contemporary dance, visual art, and solo releases through projects such as STARDUST and his ongoing THE 8 Contemporary ART series. VERNON has also steadily built a reputation as a songwriter and producer, contributing to work across the group's catalog and beyond. V8 therefore becomes a natural meeting point between those parallel paths, bringing together two artists whose creative interests have consistently extended beyond the usual expectations of idol pop.

Their debut album as a unit takes all of that accumulated creative energy and channels it into eight tracks built around a single idea: that youth is not something that gets used up but something that functions as fuel. The album moves through wandering and the instability of earlier years without framing any of it as wasted time, finding the freedom inside that fragility and turning it into momentum.

The project's collaborators reflect that same ambition, with contributions from 14-time Grammy-winning artist Pharrell Williams [@ pharrell], Berlin-based producer Mechatok [@ mechatok], and Korean electronic musician KIRARA [@ stqpkiraradongjae], all establishing a record that sits outside the expected parameters of what a K-pop unit release is supposed to sound like.
