难道你的智慧竟然使你没有认识到：祖国比母亲、父亲以及所有的祖先都更高贵、更值得敬重、更神圣，无论在诸神那里，还是在有见识的人那里，它都享有更高的尊荣。因此，当祖国发怒时，你对它应当比对父亲怀有更大的敬畏、顺从和谦恭；你对它要么以理说服，要么遵从命令。如果它命令你受苦，你应当默默承受；无论它命令你遭受鞭笞或监禁，还是带领你上战场，让你受伤甚至被杀，[你都应当无条件接受。]
