universally best, formal & casual,very clear and natural in all varieties.

2. in the summer holidays
BrE dominant, very natural,but a bit less natural than over; often used when talking about what happens during that time in general.

补充
【Over the holidays】is correct and common, meaning during the holiday period (at some point(s) within it).
In American English, “the holidays” often means the end-of-year holidays (Thanksgiving–New Year, especially Christmas/New Year).
In British English, it can mean school holidays more generally, depending on context.
