I used to assume that sound advice would naturally be heeded, and that genuine goodwill would inevitably be recognized. In practice, however, this logic rarely holds up when applied to real, flesh-and-blood individuals.

Acceptance hinges less on the validity of the advice itself, and more on the psychological toll required to act on it. Often, the more surgically your solution strikes the core issue, the fiercer the resistance it provokes. Not because you are mistaken, but because you have exposed a nerve they are not yet ready to confront.

Elite scholars from institutions like Peking University and Tsinghua are conditioned to attack core problems head-on, having been rewarded for this approach time and again. What they often fail to grasp is that most people are psychologically wired to sidestep the very heart of their problems.

Social systems do not operate by the same rules as intellectual puzzles. To ascend to the top, one must master the intricate mechanics of how society functions. At the middle tier, success lies in navigating the complexities of human nature. It is only at the foundational level—among technical professionals—that raw problem-solving ability is the primary currency.
