On life's journey, a minority tread a straight path, while the majority meander along winding roads. What, then, dictates the direction of one's life? Fate and wisdom. One's destiny is not self-determined. Some are born into affluence, while others into poverty; some enjoy smooth sailing, while others endure turbulent times. The classic line 'My fate is mine, not heaven's' may sound inspiring, yet it is mere nonsense, a child's play. 'Fate is dictated by heaven, not man' holds the truth. Despite fate'suncontrollable nature, wisdom offers us the chance to grasp it and guide our lives. By drawing strength from great humanistic classics, we may acquire wisdom, which will lead us down a straight path, rather than a winding, circuitous, or even dead-end one.
在人生的道路上，极少数人走的是直路，绝大多数人走的却是弯路。那么，是什么在支配着人生之路的方向呢？一是命运、二是智慧。一个人的命运不是我们自己决定的。有的人生在富贵之家，而有的人却出生在贫困家庭；有的人生际遇顺风顺水，有的人生际遇却颠沛流离。经典台词“我命由我不由天”听起来振奋人心，其实只是胡扯八道，欺骗小孩子是玩意，“命运由天不由人”才是真理和真相。尽管命运不由人，但智慧却让我们有机会把握命运，同样给我们人生指导方向。如果我们经常在伟大的人文经典里汲取力量，我们就有机会拥有智慧，而智慧会指导我们的人生走一条直路，而非弯路、回头路甚至死路 。
