Joe Hisaishi’s newest work, Concerto for Orchestra, received its world premiere in three sold-out concerts with the National Symphony Orchestra National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC.

At the opening performance on May 14, following the performance of Concerto for Orchestra in the second half of the program, the audience erupted into loud cheers and a standing ovation, giving the work an enthusiastic reception worthy of a world premiere.

The concerto will continue to be performed throughout the upcoming seasons, with co-commissioners Toronto Symphony Orchestra (May 28-30), Carnegie Hall (July 10-11), Joe Hisaishi Foundation, Colorado Symphony (October 16-17), San Francisco Symphony (October 22-24), Orchestre de Paris Philharmonie de Paris (November 12-14 in Singapore / June 9-10, 2027 in Paris), Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (touring in November-December 2026), Chicago Symphony Orchestra (April 30 - May 1, 2027), and Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia @accademiadisantacecilia (June 3-5, 2027).
