很多人会将“回家”翻译成return to home，但这样写是有问题的，正确写法是return home

这跟home特殊的词性用法有关。当 home 前面没有任何冠词或物主代词时，它默认是一个副词。而副词的特性是直接修饰动词，中间不能加介词。

如果写成return to home，那么就变成“动词+介词+副词”的结构，这在语法上是不成立的。

同样的道理，我们要说go home, come home，但是不能说go to home或者come to home。

“跟我一起回家”要说：come home with me.

要表达“到家”，我们也应该说arrive home，而不是arrive at home，比如：As soon as I arrived home, I knew that something was wrong.

不过stay的搭配是一个特例，在英式英语中可以说stay at home，而在美式英语中可以说stay home，因此stay home/stay at home都是正确的。

而当home前面有冠词或者物主代词my/his/her/their等修饰时，情况又有所不同，因为此时它是一个名词。

比如应该说：

(1) I will return to my home.
(2) I will return to the home where I grew up.

而不能说：

(1) I will return my home.
(2) I will return the home where I grew up.

也就是说，在somebody’s home结构之前必须加介词to/at，才能与go, return, get等连用。

举个例子，BBC有这么一个句子：

A woman who recently returned to her home on the Isle of Man after a seven-month battle with cancer has said she wants "to share some hope" with others.

参考译文：一位女性在与癌症抗争七个月后，近日回到位于马恩岛的家中。她表示，自己想要“向他人传递一些希望”。

句子中的用法是returned to her home，因为此时home是名词，前面有物主代词her修饰。

同样的道理，我们要说go to somebody’s home, stay at somebody’s home, arrive at somebody’s home.
