You sit at a desk all day. You train a few times a week. Your hips, hamstrings, and lower back still feel like they belong to someone twice your age. Here's the fix. You've been stretching, probably for years, and your hips are still tight, your lower back still locks up after a long day, your hamstrings pull when you try to do something athletic. Cool. Years of stretching, still can't move properly. Time to actually fix it.
Flexibility is passive. It's how far your joint moves when something else pushes it: gravity, a strap, the floor. Mobility is active. It's how far you can move it yourself, under your own control. Most people only train one of them: the passive one, the one where you sit on the floor after a workout, count to 30, and tell yourself you did something. Your joints get pulled into a range they can't actually control. That gap is where injuries happen. Your joints need mechanical input to stay healthy. Active, controlled movement through full range. Tissue breakdown at the cellular level. Sitting at a desk for 8 hours is tissue breakdown. Your body doesn't care that you were busy. Train your joints to actually control that range, not just sit in it.
