To cling stubbornly to the delusion that others should live up to our expectations yet refuse to look inward and change even a little is the most unfulfillable falsehood of all attachments. Nothing in this world is gained by forcing outward; it is always about cultivating inward. All we can do is first nurture our heart, discipline our body, speech and mind, treat all around us with gentle kindness, and need not deliberately seek or demand anything externally. When our heart is pure and gentle, happiness will come naturally. If we keep faulting others for how they should be, the deeper our attachment, the heavier our troubles, and we only end up inflicting endless suffering on ourselves.——Respected Teacher Jia Cuo
