Ming Dynasty stem cup
Excavated from the Xiaomazhan-Liushuijing site in Yuexiu District, the stem cup is a Ming Dynasty of Longquan-style celadon. Historically, the stem cup, a prevalent ancient drinking vessel, was highly favored during the Yuan Dynasty for its practicality among nomadic populations. Subsequently, during the Ming Dynasty, kilns in Guangdong continued to produce these form while integrating distinct local characteristics. A representative example of this is seen in this particular cup, which stands 10 cm tall with a rim diameter of 11 cm and a foot diameter of 3.8 cm; it possesses a well-proportioned, elegant silhouette and a lustrous green glaze, remaining aesthetically striking even in its incomplete state.
