佛教也提倡孝道，孝顺父母的功德仅次于供养三宝。如果无佛在世，孝顺父母的功德就是最大的。假如一个人对父母都没有孝养之心，怎么可能慈悲一切众生呢？
Buddhism also upholds the virtue of filial piety. The merit of honoring and caring for one’s parents is second only to offering to the Three Jewels. When there is no Buddha dwelling in the world, the merit of filial devotion to one’s parents is considered the greatest. If a person lacks even the heart of filial care toward their own parents, how could they possibly cultivate compassion for all sentient beings?
