During Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s visit to China, both countries agreed on the following points. But there were some informal chats also. The sources in Pakistan confirm that in the next less than 24 hours, the US will give some notions. Therefore, Pakistan was asked by the Chinese to move cautiously. Pakistan agreed to have clear communication during the next 12 hours. If the US says something on the de-escalation, then Pakistan will show some cards; otherwise, it will go slow. As far as the Iranian concerns, the sources revealed that Iran will send its delegation once it gets a signal from Pakistan. That is where Pakistan needs assurances from the US on Israel’s behaviour. If in the next 12 hours the US comes clear on the war, as the sources believe, they will get a clear notion from America, and then further development will be discussed in advance with China, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. Pakistan will only signal Iran to come once the issues with the US and Israel are done. Sources say that they have already conveyed it to President Trump and Vice President J D Vance. Notably, if the US announced escalation, then the entire process of engagement would reorganise after emergency consultation among the said countries. Therefore, after the showdown, if the American announces an end to the war in the next 12-24 hours, J D Vance will come to Pakistan in the first phase. In the next phase, Pakistan will host a meeting with the Iranian delegation.
· Immediate cessation of hostilities — Call for an immediate ceasefire/end to fighting, with utmost efforts to prevent the conflict from spreading further and to provide humanitarian access where needed.
· Initiate peace talks as soon as possible — Start negotiations promptly, respecting the sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence, and security of Iran and Gulf countries. Dialogue and diplomacy are described as the only viable path; all parties should avoid the use or threat of force during talks, aiming toward a comprehensive peace agreement.
· Ensure the safety of non-military/civilian targets — Halt attacks on civilian infrastructure, critical facilities (such as energy, power plants, desalination plants), and other non-military sites to protect civilians and prevent broader humanitarian or economic damage.
· Ensure the safety of navigation / restore normal passage — Protect vessels, crews, and shipping in and around the Strait of Hormuz; restore "normal passage" and safe maritime navigation as soon as possible. This implicitly addresses disruptions to global energy supplies and appears to oppose any restrictive measures (like tolls) imposed during the conflict.
· Safeguard the primacy of the UN Charter — Uphold the principles of the United Nations Charter, including respect for international law, non-interference, and peaceful resolution of disputes
