Merits:

2. A genuinely gripping midpoint twist
3. Satisfying resolution: key mysteries and anomalies are clearly explained by the
end.
4. Multiple POV narratives provide diverse perspectives
Flaws: (Spoiler alert!)
1. Pacing: the first half lacks tension and coherent narrative drive, which doesn't serve to develop mystery.
2. Underdeveloped antagonist motive: Cate’s actions feel insufficiently justified, making major plot developments seem forced.
3. Weak use of setting: the isolated Scottish island premise only becomes effective late in the story, missing opportunities to build early suspense.
4. Stereotypical character portrayal: several female characters rely on extreme or irrational traits without sufficient psychological grounding
