Gen Z Americans breaking the bank to go to Coachella or Disney for such generic experiences is truly an epidemic of late-capitalist overconsumption, to the point that they don’t even know better things at all. When people are racking up real debt for some highly commodified, short-lived reels, if we’re being honest here, it’s no longer escapism or borderline healthy indulgence but a nihilistic feedback loop where the cost in pain outruns the joy it’s supposed to drive by miles.
