Everyone struggles and competes, until in the end, no matter how vast the world is, it can only hold a selfish and narrow heart. People do not quarrel out of necessity, but out of choice. If the heart opens to greater breadth, conflict loses its ground; if gains and losses are taken lightly, conflict ceases to arise; if we demand less from our goals, conflict fades away naturally; if we cling less to utility and gain, conflict finds no place to stand; if we show more understanding and empathy for others, conflict loses all meaning.
