Trauma is not a function of objective magnitude. It's a function of the intersection between event and the specific person the event happens to. The same experience produces radically different outcomes in different people not because some people are weak and others strong, but because people arrive at their experiences already formed in particular ways, with particular needs, particular attachment styles, particular things that were or weren't present in their early environment. What breaks one person barely marks another, not because the first person is fragile but because the break happened to fall exactly across something load-bearing.
