A respected Hong Kong academic Li Siu-hang has been arrested in Sydney after allegedly disguising himself as a secondary school pupil to enter elite campuses and covertly film students over the course of a week.

Li was detained on Tuesday after a Sydney Grammar School teacher reported a suspicious adult in full school attire attempting to blend in with a group of boys near Hyde Park.

The teacher escorted the man away from the students and alerted school authorities via the internal broadcast system before contacting police.
