The breakroom door swung open, allowing a brief, deafening surge of club music to flood the room before it clicked shut. Mammon strutted directly toward me, the sharp clack of his heels echoing against the linoleum.

He stopped inches away, looming over me with an indignant huff as he planted a heel on the sofa, effectively barring my exit.

"What the hell was that? You totally ignored me out there!"

Despite the bite in his voice, he wouldn't meet my eyes, and his plush bunny ears were drooping noticeably. "You know I'm only workin' this dive 'cause you were gettin' all jealous."

"Jealous?" I said, raising an eyebrow. "Mammon, you're working here because YOU were the one getting jealous!"

"Huh?!"

The moment I bit back, he moved. In a blur of yellow and ribbons, he pinned my hand above my head. He leaned in, his shadow falling over me. "Wanna see what happens when a bunny gets lonely?"

His grip was firm, yet careful; just strong enough to ensure I wasn't going anywhere.

With one foot on the cushion, he pushed himself closer. He tucked his head next to mine, his ragged breathing warm against my neck. The heat of him sent a sharp shiver racing down my spine.

"So, you're just a lonely little bunny now, are you?" I teased.

Mammon froze, his bravado wavering.

"...Yeah. That's right," he muttered, his voice dropping into a weak, blunt confession.

Suddenly, his free hand snaked behind my back, pulling me into him. He had me completely caged; his leg blocking my body, one hand pinning mine, and his arm anchored around my waist.

"You know that if a bunny's left alone for too long, he'll die of loneliness?"
