Over ten years ago, Shanghai artist Shen Jianhua moved to Huoshan Village on the shores of Dali’s Erhai Lake in southwest China. There, he founded the Bai Folk Art Studio and began teaching locals—most of whom had never held a paintbrush—to document village life through art.
