We all grew up mesmerized by Donatella’s vision and her approach to Versace. That is why, for many, it feels particularly hard to see the brand evolve without her very personal touch and her strong presence.

In a society that leans on nostalgia and finds comfort in the past, where the word “vintage” is the equivalent of “new”, and seeking for what has been feels safer than embracing the uncertainty of the future; Versace’s imaginary opened itself to a new reading. A new direction capable of translating the present and shaking the collective consciousness, starting from the values and the principles that have always defined the brand.

Donatella left us years of love, pure passion, art and glamour. Her fights for human rights could be seen in her designs, prints and in each detail leading to every collection. She taught us what being Versace is all about. She taught us to speak up for ourselves, for the people who cannot do so. She taught us to be unapologetically true to our beliefs, to be rebellious and to chime for equality.
