刚刚在我们社区的脸书群里看到一个家长的帖子。她说他们在尝试申请附近的一所私校，试了三次都被拒了。她希望大家帮她想想是为什么被拒。她说孩子很多方面都很优秀，但在读公校的时候有IEP (IEP 是英文 Individualized Education Program 的缩写。在美国的公立学校，如果学生因为学习、语言、注意力或其他方面的special needs需要额外帮助，学校会为ta提供IEP; 为gifted & talented kids提供的也叫IEP, 但这个家长这里指的是前者）。

不少人觉得IEP是最被私校拒掉的最重要的原因，当然也有人不同意。总之有几条特别好，我忍不住摘抄一下：

- Sounds like they just don't want you guys as part of their community for whatever reason. Why would you continue to try going somewhere that is flat out rejecting you? Would you do that with a partner or a friend who was constantly rejecting you? There are plenty of other really nice schools that would be happy to have him.

- Remember to fill your child's cup with love and praise. We don't always get what we want. He is meant for something better.

- Rejection is protection.
