If you can tolerate others, that's called great talent. You can be extremely incompetent yourself. If you trust and employ people, that is the greatest talent. This is called forbearance. So people like Du Fu and Li Bai were all called "little talents" and never achieved success throughout their lives. People like Han Xin couldn't hold on to it to the end either, so in the end, he died a tragic death. Liu Bang is a true talent, and Zhang Liang is a true talent. He knows how to endure. Why do I bring up this kind of patience of ordinary people? Nowadays, even practitioners can't endure this kind of patience! Isn't it? Moreover, practitioners understand that all phenomena are me. Even if we talk about the second truth, it's still my parents and children from my past lives. What can't you tolerate?

在世间法里你能带兵打仗、你能说会道、你会写文章，会怎么样，都叫小才；你能容人，这叫大才；你自己可以非常无能，你信人、用人，这是最大的才，这就叫忍。所以像杜甫啊、李白啊，这些人都叫小才，一生不得志；韩信那种人也还没能忍到底，所以到最后来讲，死于非命；刘邦才叫人才，张良才叫人才，他会忍。我为什么将凡夫这种忍提出来啊？现在修行人连这种忍都做不到啊！是不是？何况修行人明白一切万法都是我。即使讲第二义谛，也是我过去世中的父母儿女，你有什么不能忍？
