This is called the combination of ignorance and dust. Because they have combined the dust of light and darkness, they have forgotten their awareness. This is the sorrow of all sentient beings.
Detached from movement and stillness, without the essence of hearing: only knowing to grasp the sounds from the outside world - the two dusts of movement and stillness, but not knowing who can be heard inside. Without obstruction or blockage, the sense of smell does not arise: If one leaves the two dusts of obstruction and blockage, one will not know the thing that can be exhaled or inhaled inside.

是以汝今离暗离明，无有见体：如果离开了明和暗，没有见体了，它想象不出来还有什么能见的东西在那里，这叫背觉合尘。因为合了明暗之尘，把觉忘记了，这就是众生的悲哀。
离动离静，元无听质：只知道攀外界的声音——动静二尘，而不知道里面能听的是谁。无通无塞，嗅性不生：如果离开通塞二尘，就不知道在里面那个能呼、能吸的东西。
