If the void is combined with a group of vessels, due to the different shapes of the vessels, it is called the different void. By eliminating the object and observing emptiness, it is said that emptiness is one.
The void is just like this: when it is round, it becomes round; when it is square, it becomes square; when it is different, it becomes different; when it is the same, it becomes the same. But you can't say that this void is the same or the different. It is nothing; it manifests itself as circumstances dictate. That is to say, our "One Essence Wisdom" is neither one essence nor the six senses. To go with the flow, one, six, three, it is to go with the flow. Are one, six, three and five the same thing?
From this perspective, is our true nature the Buddha? Is it a Bodhisattva? Is it a human being? So when you said yes, you also said no at the same time. You can't call him a Buddha, a Bodhisattva, an ordinary person, or a cow, a horse, a pig or a sheep. He is nothing. But he is everything - he can take on the forms of a Buddha, a Bodhisattva, a human, a horse, or a dog as circumstances allow. This is true chanting of the Buddha's name. This is the Buddha of the true Dharma Realm. The Buddhas we usually recite are those from the ten realms - Amitabha Buddha, Sakyamuni Buddha... They are Buddhas and we are ordinary people. You should recite the Buddha's name with your own discriminating mind. In fact, you haven't seen the Buddha yet.
如太虚空参合群器,由器形异,名之异空。除器观空,说空为一。
虚空本来就是这样,它圆来现圆,方来现方,异来现异,同来现同。但你不能讲这个虚空就是同,或者就是异。它什么也不是,它是随缘显现。也就是说,我们这个一精之明既不是一精,也不是六根。随缘现一、现六、现三,它是随缘。一、六、三、五是不是同一个东西啊?
从这里来讲,我们的真心本来面目是不是佛啊?是不是菩萨?是不是人啊?所以你讲是的时候同时就讲了不是。你不能讲他是佛,不能讲他是菩萨,也不能讲他是凡夫,也不能讲他是牛马猪羊,他什么都不是;但他又什么都是——他可以随缘现佛相、菩萨相、人相、马相、狗相。这就是真正的念佛,这是一真法界的佛。我们平时所念的那些佛是十法界里的佛——阿弥陀佛、释迦牟尼佛……他们是佛,我们是凡夫,你自已分别心来念佛。其实你还没有见到佛。
