Led by aviation pioneer Lt. Col. James Harold Doolittle, 16 B-25 bombers struck Japan before vanishing into China's skies, with Crews 3 and 5 parachuting over Quzhou City, eastern China's Zhejiang Province. Defying Japanese occupation forces, local people risked their lives to rescue and shelter the stranded American pilots.
