The more we think, the harder it becomes to cultivate. But what happens when the restless mind finally settles?
There’s a koan: A young monk spent the whole day sweeping fallen leaves until the dusk approached. Yet the more he swept, the more the wind scattered new ones. In contrast, the old master simply placed the broom upside-down into a crevice in the stone. By morning, the wind had gently arranged the golden leaves into quiet patterns across the ground, and fresh buds had begun to emerge on the branches, glistening with dew.
So tell me—was there more skill in sweeping the leaves, or more wisdom in letting them fall?
May the Wisdom of Manjushri Bodhisattva shine upon us all! May every day of ours be blessed with Wisdom and Auspiciousness! With Wisdom comes a joyful heart, and a joyful heart keeps us together! http://t.cn/A6k50dUG
