天地不仁，以万物为刍狗；圣人不仁，以百姓为刍狗。天地之间，其犹橐龠与！虚而不屈，动而愈出。多闻数穷，不若守于中。

Heaven and earth are not benevolent;
They treat all things as straw dogs.
The sage is not benevolent;
He treats everyone as straw dogs.
Between heaven and earth,
It is like a bellows:
Empty yet inexhaustible,
The more it moves, the more it brings forth.
Too much talk leads to exhaustion—
Better to hold to the center.
