It has attracted significant Chinese investment to build local manufacturing bases, from home appliances to machinery. Chinese construction machinery manufacturer XCMG Group XCMG Brasil Indústria initially made a $300 million investment to build a factory in the city. It has now turned 10 years old, with an annual manufacturing capacity of 10,000 units. These are sold across South America. By the end of 2023, the total investment by Chinese companies in Brazil had reached $37 billion.
