I’d say this song is the bluest and purest part of In The Lonely Hour. Written by me and Fraser T Smith, round the corner from where my Dad grew up. Fraser enabled me, as a 22 year old scared gay kid to feel so safe to express. This song was me coming to terms with the reality of my love. The man I loved wasn’t gay and wasn’t able to love me in ‘that way’ but it didn’t stop me from loving him. Heartbreaking stuff and hellah dramatic.
