Open Up was the last song we wrote for the album, the first single we put out and the first prep track that Tom started from scratch. Usually Dan, Lly and myself write the music but this time Tom came up with the main chords too… We made a quick sketch of it, took it to Paris and luckily Renaud Letang liked it and knew what to do to it, production-wise. The guiro part on the intro is still here, but if you check out our demo on slide 2, you’ll hear that the rest changed quite a lot… One great thing Dan came up with in Paris was the guitars in the middle 8, I think that section sounds very citypop. Finally, big shout out to Will Sipos who made the video, and extra special thanks to Tasty his pet turtle for nailing the main part.
