There are a few times in a skater’s career when they accomplish something that leaves a buzzing afterglow of pride and disbelief for hours. Landing a new jump for the first time, winning a major competition - these are moments you remember your whole life. To be honest, I was starting to miss that feeling, and I wondered if I would ever feel it again.
As a complete beginner to bouldering, I had to force myself to be patient and start from zero in a new sport, something I was very much not used to after competing in skating at a high level for so long. For a while, I had been projecting an unusually difficult V5 as an “impossible-but-fun” challenge - I’m a beginner and my comfort zone is around V2-3. So today, when I actually figured out how to connect the moves and then executed the whole sequence, it felt like landing a quad or skating a clean 5-quad program for the first time all over again.
I just wanted to share this with my followers because it makes me beyond happy to have experienced this novel feeling of accomplishment all over again, and I hope it encourages you all to never be afraid to try something, even if it seems impossible!
Shoutout to Rock Spot Climbing of Providence :)
