【撕“港独”海报女生发声回应:“我现在不害怕了,我背后有一个强大的祖国”】After being filmed tearing off posters advocating so-called “Hong Kong independence” at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), a female student from the Chinese mainland expressed fear of falling victim to online bullying. However, netizens have voiced their support to the student for standing up for the country's territorial integrity and national unity.
On Weibo, the Communist Youth League of China addressed the girl in a post, telling her, “Don’t be afraid. We have your back!”
In response to the incident, CUHK’s Vice Chancellor Joseph Sung sent an open letter to all students, teaching staff and alumni, stating that the idea of an independent Hong Kong a breach of the Basic Law and contrary to his personal belief.
On Thursday, the student spoke to news website guancha.cn and expressed her gratitude for the support she received. “I’m not scared anymore, because I know my country stands firmly behind me.” #港中大撕海报事件#
