［The Mute Universe of Toba Khedoori］／1

Toba Khedoori (1964) is an Australian artist with Iraqi heritage. Her most representative works include mixed techniques drawings and paintings made on large sheets of wax-coated paper. The subjects are everyday objects and scenes isolated and placed on large, empty backgrounds, a technique which confers a sense of monumentality and stillness to the subject . The shaded objects appear like sculptural elements on paper surrounded by a sense of alienation.
