I met you for the first time on October 31st, during a rainy afternoon, and right after a full day of lessons at school.
I entered the headquarters of Versace, registered my presence, as usual, and sat on the iconic Versace white couch. My heart was racing fast, my hands were sweating and my eyes were filled with joy. With a bouquet of flowers in one hand and an handwritten letter in the other, I waited for you to come downstairs. I’ll never forget the moment I saw you, and the smile you had on your face. I had been following your journey for a while, and your approach to Versace had immediately resonated with me. Your debut collection was all about sensuality, and a new way of perceiving the essence of the House, translating its original and strong codes, some of which we had stopped looking for, in a fresh and modern language.
We sat on the iconic Versace white couch and talked. I’ll bring that conversation with me forever. Those few minutes spent together taught me the most valuable lessons. Your passion, love, and care for the brand could not only be found in your designs, but in your words as well.
Thank you for having welcomed me in your world, for having let me explore your vision, and for having made me understand more deeply who I am.
