Shane Gillis Gets First Netflix Special, “Beautiful Dogs”

In the last year, we’ve seen a lot of comedians who have surprisingly never had Netflix specials making the leap to the platform. The latest in the long line of comedians moving from self distribution to Netflix is Shane Gillis (as first reported by Deadline).

When did Shane Gillis release his first special?
Shane Gillis released his first hour back on YouTube in 2021, Live in Austin. Filmed in Austin, Texas, it was one of the best specials to come out that year. It managed to generate over 13 million views, which is an incredible feat for an independently produced special.

Now, Shane Gillis is joining the rank of comedians with Netflix specials with a new hour, Beautiful Dogs. The hour was filmed in Virginia this year, in the midst of Gillis’ first theater tour.

The special hits Netflix on September 5th.
